(Calgary, Alberta, Canada, May 19, 2010) – NovAtel Inc. (NovAtel), the leading original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of precise positioning technology, announced today in Calgary, the launch of its Version 3.800 firmware for its OEMV family of GNSS precision receivers. This latest firmware upgrade features optimizations to NovAtel’s AdVance RTK for industry leading GPS-only and GPS+GLONASS RTK positioning performance.
Significant research and algorithm adjustments have been made to AdVance RTK, increasing solution availability and accelerating ambiguity resolution in real world conditions while maintaining high accuracy. Additional routines have been added to minimize the effects of increasing solar activity for consistent and reliable RTK positioning in long baseline RTK positioning in active ionosphere conditions. Comprehensive support for RTCM Master Auxiliary Concept (MAC) messages has also been added for optimal positioning accuracy in RTK networks featuring MAC technology.
Additional intelligence has been added to AdVance RTK to automate RTK positioning calculations depending on the working conditions of customers. Whether users are working with a single physical GNSS base station, or within an RTK network (MAC, VRS, FKP), AdVance RTK automatically adjusts its positioning algorithm to maximize positioning accuracy without any user interaction.
Sara Masterson, Portfolio Manager, Core/Survey commented, "NovAtel has always provided the best in accuracy for our customers" adding, "Automating AdVance RTK for optimal positioning accuracy regardless of the scenario minimizes integration efforts of NovAtel technology and ensures the universal high performance that NovAtel customers expect."
This latest firmware release and the corresponding CDU software are available at no additional charge to all OEMV customers. By providing this functionality as a firmware update, customers can apply it to their existing receivers, enabling quick changeover and no downtime.
