The BD982 GNSS receiver module from Trimble is a single board system that delivers accurate heading and position through supporting multi-constellation RTK baselines to a remote base station and between the two antennas. The GNSS unit supports GPS, GLONASS and BeiDou signals. Trimble is also is committed to the next generation GNSS configurations by supplying products that are compatible with Galileo and BeiDou long before these systems become operational.
The BD982 has the option to utilize OmniSTAR VBS, XP, G2 and HP services, thereby delivering different levels of GNSS performance without having to use a base station. GNSS systems with a single antenna find it difficult to determine where the antenna is positioned relative to a vehicle or object of interest. Although external sensors can be used to enhance this, these tend to drift when they are static. Using dual-antenna GNSS measurements to derive heading solves these problem and is economically viable. The BD982 uses independent observations from its 2 antennas to calculate multi-constellation RTK baselines. This delivers heading accuracy at less than a tenth of a degree (2 meter baseline) and centimeter accurate positions.
