With a single antenna GNSS system, it is difficult to determine where the antenna is positioned relative to the object of interest and vehicle, especially with low dynamics. Although external sensors can be used to enhance this, these tend to drift when they are static. These issues can be overcome by deriving heading from dual-antenna GNSS measurements.
The BX982 utilizes the power of dual chips that support two antennas connected to the board. Multi-constellation RTK baselines are computed by using independent observations from both antennas. The BX982 uses a single connection for RS232, USB, Ethernet or CAN to deliver < 1/10° (2 meter baseline) heading accuracy and cm accurate positions.
Users can achieve high speed configuration and data transfer via the Ethernet connectivity available on the board by using standard web browsers. Easy to use software commands reduce development times and simplify integration. Software features are upgradeable via password, allowing functionality to be added as requirements change.
The unit supports Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring (RAIM) and Fault Detection and Exclusion (FDE) for applications that are safety-critical.
