When the Satlab UAV/RTK is powered up, its field operations are automatically initiated, enabling the built-in computer to control the operation based on pre-set parameters. High precision True heading is then generated based on the direction of the two GNSS Helix Antennas, which are included.
The sensor contains both Post Processing Kinematic (PPK) and Real Time Kinematic (RTK). Corrections are delivered in RTK mode via an UHF radio and internal internet modem with NTRIP client. Raw GNSS data can also be logged simultaneously for PPK processing. These features provide full redundancy in the event that either method fails.
The sensor comes complete with two serial ports (Low Level TTL), Bluetooth, PPS output, an event marker input, USB port and power input. One of the serial ports can be used to supply 5V DC for powering an autopilot, external UHF radio, camera or other electronics.
The UAV/RTK GNSS sensor utilizes a Novatel GNSS OEM receiver with all options enabled, including heading. The GNSS board can be used for custom applications by controlling it through a serial port. Both multi constellation as well as SBAS satellites are tracked.
Apart from controlling the operation, the sensor also logs events, GGA messages and raw data files in the internal 8 GB memory. This makes it possible to use the sensor with any photogrammetric/autopilot systems, providing the camera trigger signal is available.
