The NovAtel IMU-HG is equipped with a tactical-grade Honeywell HG1700 IMU. The IMU contains servo accelerometers and ring laser gyros, which allow it to deliver a high performance and economical three-dimensional navigation solution.

Overview

The NovAtel IMU-HG is equipped with a tactical-grade Honeywell HG1700 IMU. The IMU contains servo accelerometers and ring laser gyros, which allow it to deliver a high performance and economical three-dimensional navigation solution.

The IMU-HG feeds the IMU data to a GNSS/INS receiver that supports NovAtelís Synchronous Position, Attitude and Navigation (SPAN) technology, including SPAN-SE or Propak. The SPAN technology combines Inertial Navigation Systems with the GNSS technology to deliver accurate and continuous 3D results, even during brief periods of poor signal reception.

Moreover, the GPS and IMU operate tightly together to offer additional satellite signals. This enhances the continuousness and accuracy of the results significantly.
